THE QUESTION
A route is a moment.
The shortest route is not always the most practical one after dark. Lighting, open businesses, and street activity change over the course of a journey.
The approach
SafeHER uses time-dependent A*: every edge is evaluated at its estimated arrival time. It brings together road geometry, lighting estimates, activity signals, nearby safe havens, and community reports.

The engineering choice
The system avoids publishing a danger map. It presents route-level guidance and tracks the source of estimates, allowing the experience to acknowledge incomplete data instead of assigning a permanent label to a neighbourhood.
